Why Seed Over Sod?
Sod looks good the day it's laid, but seeding — done right — gives you a stronger, deeper-rooted lawn that lasts. Here's why we believe in the seed-first approach:
- Deeper Roots, Stronger Lawn — Seed establishes directly in your soil, developing a root system that goes deeper and holds up better through heat, drought, and heavy use. Sod often struggles to knit into existing soil.
- Cost-Effective — Quality seeding with proper prep costs significantly less than sod and delivers the same beautiful result — you're just trading a few weeks of patience for years of durability.
- We Control the Soil — With sod, you're stuck with whatever soil it was grown in. Our approach starts with premium screened topsoil spread at the right depth, giving your grass exactly what it needs from day one.
- Built for Your Property — We grade for proper drainage, use seed suited to your yard's conditions, and build a lawn that's custom to your yard — not a one-size-fits-all roll of sod.
- Perfect After Tree Work — If you've had a tree removed or a stump ground down, topsoil and seeding is the ideal way to restore that spot. Sod often won't match the surrounding lawn, but seeding blends seamlessly into your existing yard.
Our Process
- 1Site Assessment — We evaluate drainage, existing soil, and grade to build a plan.
- 2Rough Grade — Heavy equipment is used to establish the proper grade and prepare the site for topsoil.
- 3Topsoil Spread — Premium topsoil is spread evenly at the correct depth.
- 4Final Grade — Fine grading creates a smooth, seed-ready surface.
- 5Seed Applied — Premium seed is then applied and worked into the topsoil to ensure optimal germination.
- 6Straw/Hay Applied — A protective layer of straw or hay is spread over the seeded area to lock in moisture and prevent erosion.
Aftercare: We provide watering and maintenance instructions so your new lawn establishes strong. Follow-up visits available to ensure success.
